This Sunday is one of our favorite special events — the biennial Bicycle Collection Day, sponsored by Brighton Rotary Club! Please bring any bike in any condition, to be donated to R Community Bikes. Volunteers at this wonderful local organization will refurbish donated bikes and distribute them to kids and adults in our community who might not otherwise have access to bikes or transportation. Let’s fill that truck!

This Sunday at the Market Stonecrop Farm is bringing its first harvest of fresh organic ginger, plus certified organic fresh whole chickens, as well as fresh pasture-raised pork chops, kabob meat, shoulder roasts, steaks, spare ribs, ground pork, sausage, bacon, deli ham, organ meats, bones, trotters, and rendered lard. R&M Bischoping will have heirloom slicing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, baby zucchini, cucumbers, tomatillos, green beans, seasonal honeys (spring, summer, and fall), and honey and goat’s milk handmade artisan soaps. 

Growing Family Farm will have certified organic tomatoes, sweet peppers, hot peppers, eggplant, okra, tomatillos, celery, sweet onions, garlic, French and Italian dandelion, fennel, rainbow chard, delicata squash, salad mix, romaine, fresh herbs, and Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry juice. Dearhaven Farm is bringing certified organic heirloom tomato, cherry tomato, parsnip, sweet pepper, eggplant, new potatoes (red, gold, russet), sweet onion, cooking onion, shallot, garlic, leek, kale, spaghetti squash, delicata squash, acorn squash, zucchini, parsley, cilantro, basil, and fennel.

Andy’s Specialty Produce will have certified organic red slicing tomatoes, salad mix, spinach, seedless cucumbers, arugula, carrots, new red and yellow potatoes, red beets, kale, radishes, pea shoots, romaine and red leaf lettuce, garlic, onions, and green summer cabbage. Squash Blossom Farm is bringing lettuce mix, arugula, Little Gem lettuce, head lettuce, radicchio, escarole, frisee, kale, chard, fennel, cabbage, beet, carrot, scallion, cipollini, squash, cucumber, watermelon, eggplant, pepper, tomato, cilantro, parsley, sage. thyme, and dill.

Lighthouse Gardens will have a huge selection of hardy fall mums; freshly harvested ginger; cherry tomatoes; heirloom tomatoes; carrots; green beans; sweet peppers; jalapenos; Hungarian hot wax peppers; celery; eggplant; garlic; shallots; beets; lettuce bouquets; mixed salad greens; baby leaf spinach; baby Asian greens; rainbow Swiss chard; kale; radishes; green and purple kohlrabi; zucchini and summer squash; tomatillos; ground cherries; cut herb bunches of basil, cilantro, dill, and rosemary; certified organic herb and vegetable transplants for fall succession planting; ginger, fig, and bay laurel plants; succulents in pots, planters, and hanging baskets; hostas; herb planters; and organic potting soil.

K&S Bischoping will have freestone peaches, blackberries, and apples — Zestar!, Ginger Gold, and Paula Red as well as an assortment of heirloom apples including Summer Rambo. Bolton Farms is bringing soil-grown beets, yellow and green beans, sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, and winter squash (delicata, acorn, and spaghetti), and hydroponic bibb lettuce, lettuce bouquets, spring mix, micro greens, pea shoots, arugula, basil, watercress, sorrel, dandelion greens, and Tuscan kale.

Lagoner Farms will have lots of peaches; nectarines; donut peaches; prune, red, and yellow plums, raspberries; blackberries; blueberries; pears, and new crop apples — Paula Red, Early Gold, Zestar!, early Honeycrisp, Macintosh, Gala, Autumn Crisp, Ginger Gold and heirlooms St. Edmunds Russet, Chestnut Crab, and Gravenstein. Chicory Blue Gardens will have glads, sunflowers, fall-inspired bouquets, dahlias, zinnias, ornamental grasses, statice, cosmos, and gomphrena, for making your own bouquets.

Shannon Brook Farm is bringing certified organic, pasture-raised heritage breed pork: no-nitrate smoked hams, smoked ham slices, smoked and fresh hocks, three types of no-nitrate bacon, ground, loin roasts, chops, six types of sausage, fresh pork belly, tenderloins, soup bones, and leaf lard; grass-fed lamb raised on organic pastures: shoulder and leg roasts, loin and neck chops, shanks, short ribs, and liver; certified organic, free-range poultry: broiler chickens – wholes and halves, chicken necks, livers, feet, gizzards, and whole ducks; and certified organic free-range chicken eggs.

Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic tomatoes, cantaloupe, ground cherries, jalapeno peppers, cucumbers, fresh holy basil, squash (cousa, patty pan, and zucchini), Portuguese and curly kale, dried dill, holy basil-tulsi tea, spearmint, truly free-range eggs, organically-fed 100% grass-grown Angus beef in a variety of cuts (bones, roasts, burger, liver, and more), and Genesee Valley Bean certified organic dry black, cannellini, red kidney, and pinto beans. 

Deep Root Farm is bringing salad mix, bibb and summer crisp lettuce, arugula, kale, chard, collards, napa cabbage, French radish, hakurei turnip, tomatoes, sweet peppers, eggplant, onions, shallots, and summer squash. Tripleberry Farm will have giant pesticide-free blackberries plus a full array of pesticide-free berry jams. 

Bristol Mushrooms will have fresh-picked, certified organic lion’s mane and king oyster mushrooms, Brain Booster lion’s mane coffee (now with 40% more in each package), Brain Booster lion’s mane powder, and dried lion’s mane — simply re-hydrate in a soup or stew. Happy Hooves Farm will have cuts of pork and sausages from pasture-raised pigs and beef from 100% grass-fed and grass-finished herd of beef cows; all animals are raised outside on pasture with organic feed containing no corn, no soy, and no wheat, except cows which only eat grass.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is offerings tastings of its newest maple product — coffee infused boubon barrel aged maple syrup, plus maple mustard; maple fudge; bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple BBQ sauce; maple cotton candy; maple coated almonds, cashews, and pecans; traditional, cinnamon, and raspberry maple cream spread; pure NYS maple syrup in flavors golden, amber, dark, and very dark; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat-free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body-care products — maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm.

Seaway Trail Honey will have fresh late summer honey, a dark to medium amber honey with a rich flavor — fresh, raw, with active enzymes; all seasonal local raw honeys from spring to fall, certified Kosher by Rabbi Avi Kilimnick; honeycomb; cute mini bears; black walnuts, almonds, pistachios in honey; infused honeys with organic lavender, ginger, rosemary, cocoa, cinnamon and — new this week — pumpkin spice; pure beeswax candles; and propolis — the leaf resins that bees collect — in powdered, chunks, and tincture; stop by for a sampling, for information about bees and the different types of honey, and to see the educational display of live honey bees for the non-profit NY Bee Wellness Inc. 

Le Petit Poutine will have sausage gravy poutine, plus its new BLT special with a vegetarian option served with house-made coconut bacon. Flour City Pasta is bringing Caroline Reaper and a new spicy pasta made with Turkish Purple cayennes called Urfa Biber purple peppers.

Thanks to RocBucha for raising funds for our partner, Brighton Food Cupboard — a portion of all proceeds of Sunday’s RocBucha sales will be donated to the Food Cupboard; Heidi and her team are offering pear, ginger, and raspberry-lemonade kombucha on tap, and will have bottled flavors including ginger, strawberry-basil, pineapple-ginger, blueberry-mint, raspberry-lemonade, and apple-cinnamon; bring any bottle (RocBucha’s or other brand) to fill for $1 off.  Brian’s Kitchen will have cookies, granola bars, and chocolate fudge.

Newbury Park Pastries will have chicken, veggie, panang, shepherds, and specialty pulled pork pot pies along with sugar cookies, tarts, and sweet pies. Pasta Classics will have ravioli flavors including three cheese, feta & spinach, and butternut squash (from Fisher Hill Farm), plus a wide variety of strombolis.

Boy and the Baker will have seasonal brioche, almond brioche, soft pretzel, pecan maple sticky buns, brioche twist, assorted muffins, coconut rocher, cherry almond granola, roasted banana bread, and chocolate chunk and cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookies. Lavender Moon is bringing soaps, salves, lotions, teas, culinary blends, and all natural repellents Bug Off and Tick Me Off.

JonJohn’s Bakery is bringing mom’s mac & cheese, blueberry muffins, blueberry blackberry raspberry muffins, apple cinnamon muffins, mixed berry cobbler, lemon blueberry cake (fruit from Lagoner Farms), chocolate brownie muffins, grandma’s breakfast cake, carrot cake, cheesecake brownies, monster brownies, mixed berry tarts (fruit from Lagoner Farms), lemon blueberry blackberry raspberry cake (fruit from Lagoner Farms), apple cinnamon sugar pound cake (fruit from Lagoner Farms), apple cobbler (fruit from Lagoner Farms), chocolate dipped bourbon balls, and bourbon butter pound cake.

Councilmember on Your Corner — This week Brighton Town Council members Christine Corrado and Chris Werner will join us to chat with community members about issues of concern, answer questions, and offer updates on what’s happening in Town government.

Brighton Farmers’ Market is held Sundays, 9 am to 1 pm, in the Brighton High School parking lot, 1150 Winton Rd. S. The summer Market runs through November 24; the winter Market opens December 1.
