Yes, August is ending soon, but it’s still summer! Just check out our farmers’ tables piled high with summer’s finest offerings, bursting with flavor and color. Soon enough we’ll be eating — and yes, enjoying — brussels sprouts and winter squash, but right now it’s time to relish our delicious local tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, peaches, plums, berries, and so much more.
This Sunday Growing Family Farm will have certified organic tomatoes — heirloom, slicers, saladette, plum, cherry, and grape; sweet bull horn peppers; banana peppers; poblanos; eggplant; cucumbers; summer salad mix; romaine; celery; fresh dragon’s tongue beans; coco beans; chard; dandelion; okra; tomatillo; fresh and potted herbs; and Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry juice. Dearhaven Farm is bringing certified organic peaches, heirloom tomato, spaghetti squash, cherry tomato, sweet onion, shallot, garlic, eggplant, sweet pepper, zucchini, cucumber, carrot, kale, chard, celery, tomatillos, and fresh herbs.
Andy’s Specialty Produce will have certified organic slicing tomatoes, salad mix, seedless cucumbers, arugula, carrots, new yellow potatoes, red beets, kale, radishes, pea shoots, red leaf and romaine lettuce, garlic, sweet onions, and green summer cabbage. Squash Blossom Farm is bringing lettuce mix, head lettuce, escarole, frisee, kale, chard, radish, celery, cilantro, basil, thyme, sage, dill, baby carrot, beet root, scallion, sweet onion, cipollini onion, cherry tomato, slicing tomato, eggplant, pepper, zucchini, and cucumber.
Lighthouse Gardens will have certified organic cherry tomatoes; heirloom tomatoes; carrots; bunches of basil; sweet peppers; jalapenos, Hungarian hot wax peppers; celery; scallions; eggplant; garlic, beets; lettuce bouquets; mixed salad greens; rainbow Swiss chard; kale; radishes; zucchini and summer squash; tomatillos, ground cherries, certified organic herb and vegetable transplants for summer succession planting; ginger, bay laurel, and fig plants; succulents in pots, planters, and hanging baskets; summer flowering perennials; hardy garden mums, hostas; lettuce bowls; herb planters; berry plants; and organic potting soil.
K&S Bischoping will have Starfire peaches, blackberries, and Pristine apples as well as heirloom apple Duchess of Oldenburg. Bolton Farms is bringing arugula, watercress, basil, spring mix, lettuce bouquets, butterhead bibb, bok choi, tatsoi, curly kale, Tuscan kale, Red Russian kale, mustard greens, spicy mix, sorrel, soil grown heirloom tomatoes, green and yellow squash, sweet corn, beans, and pea shoots.
Lagoner Farms will have Red Haven peaches, white peaches, donut peaches, nectarines, prune plums, red and yellow plums, apricots, blackberries, raspberries, early gold apples, Paula Red apples, and red pears. Chicory Blue Gardens will have lots of glads, sunflowers, zinnias, celosia, amaranth in pretty shades of burgundy, amaretto, bouquets of mixed colors or monochromatic hues, and flowers to make your own bouquets.
R&M Bischoping will have heirloom slicing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, baby zucchini, cucumbers, tomatillos, green beans, seasonal honeys (spring, summer, and fall), and honey and goat’s milk handmade artisan soaps. Trademarks Flower Farm is offering a build-your-own bouquet bar, mixed bouquets, bunches of super long-lasting lisianthus, gorgeous dahlias, sunflowers, and zinnias.
Shannon Brook Farm is bringing certified organic, pasture-raised heritage breed pork: no-nitrate smoked hams, smoked ham slices, smoked and fresh hocks, three types of no-nitrate bacon, ground, butt roasts, loin roasts, two types of chops, six types of sausage, fresh pork belly, spare ribs, baby back ribs, tenderloins, soup bones, and leaf lard; grass-fed lamb raised on organic pastures: shoulder and leg roasts, loin and rib chops, ground, shanks, short ribs, and organs (tongue, kidneys, hearts, and livers); certified organic, free-range poultry: broiler chickens – wholes and halves, chicken necks, livers, gizzards, and whole ducks; and certified organic free-range chicken eggs.
Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic cucumbers, fresh Genovese and holy basil, squash (cousa, patty pan, and zucchini), Portuguese and curly kale, dried dill, holy basil-tulsi tea, spearmint, truly free-range eggs, organically-fed 100% grass-grown Angus beef in a variety of cuts (bones, roasts, burger, liver, and more), and Genesee Valley Bean certified organic dry black and pinto beans. Tripleberry Farm will have giant pesticide-free blackberries and pesticide-free blueberries plus a full array of pesticide-free berry jams.
Stonecrop Farm is bringing pasture-raised pork chops, shoulder roasts, steaks, spare ribs, ground pork, sausage, bacon, deli ham, hocks, organ meats, bones, trotters, and rendered lard, plus certified organic fresh whole chickens and feet.
Bristol Mushrooms will have fresh-picked, certified organic lion’s mane and king oyster mushrooms, Brain Booster lion’s mane coffee (now with 40% more in each package), Brain Booster lion’s mane powder, and dried lion’s mane — simply re-hydrate in a soup or stew. Happy HoovesFarm will have beef from 100% grass-fed and grass-finished cows, with a “flash sale” on ground beef, cuts of pork and sausage from pasture-raised pigs, and some whole tender young frozen chickens; all animals are raised outside on pasture with no corn, no soy, and no wheat organic feed, except cows which only eat grass.
Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm will have maple mustard; maple fudge; bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple BBQ sauce; maple cotton candy; maple coated almonds, cashews, and pecans; traditional, cinnamon, and raspberry maple cream spread; pure NYS maple syrup in flavors golden, amber, dark, and very dark; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat-free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body-care products — maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm.
Seaway Trail Honey will have summer honey, a medium amber honey — fresh, raw, with active enzymes; all seasonal local raw honeys from spring to fall, certified Kosher; honeycomb; cute mini bears; black walnuts, almonds, pistachios in honey; infused honeys with organic lavender, ginger, rosemary, cocoa, and cinnamon; pure beeswax candles; and propolis — the leaf resins that bees collect — in powdered, chunks, and tincture; stop by for a sampling, for information about bees and the different types of honey, and to see the educational display of live honey bees for the non-profit NY Bee Wellness Inc.
RocBucha is peach-cardamom, cherry-sage, and ginger kombucha on tap, and will have bottled flavors including ginger, strawberry-basil, pineapple-ginger, blueberry-mint, and raspberry-lemonade; bring any bottle (RocBucha’s or other brand) to fill for $1 off. Brian’s Kitchen will have gluten-free and vegan cookies, traditional cookies, granola bars, and chocolate fudge.
Newbury Park Pastries will have chicken, veggie, panang, shepherds, and pulled pork pot pies along with sugar cookies, rugelach, and tarts. Pasta Classics will have ravioli flavors including crab & shrimp, roasted red pepper & goat cheese, and kalamata, feta & sundried tomato, plus fresh pasta and a wide variety of strombolis.
Boy and the Baker will have seasonal brioche, almond brioche, soft pretzel, pecan maple sticky buns, brioche twist, assorted muffins, coconut rocher, cherry almond granola, roasted banana bread, and chocolate chunk and cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookies. Lavender Moon is bringing soaps, salves, lotions, teas, culinary blends, and all natural repellents Bug Off and Tick Me Off.
JonJohn’s Bakery is bringing blueberry and mixed berry muffins (fruit from Lagoner Farms), blackberry peach tarts (fruit from Lagoner Farms), mom’s mac & cheese, lemon blueberry blackberry raspberry cake (fruit from Lagoner Farms), peanut butter balls, cheesecake brownies, chocolate dipped bourbon balls, bourbon peach cobbler (fruit from Lagoner Farms), bourbon butter pound cake, coconut pecan chocolate chip cookies, monster brownies, grandma’s breakfast cake, monster chocolate cake, oatmeal cranberry cookies, and lemonade.
Flour City Pasta is featuring cucumber gnocchetti made with local cukes — makes a great summer salad. Impact Earth will have sign-ups available for residential food scraps drop off program as well as zero waste lifestyle products and information about community solar. Jessica Oehman from RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability will conduct a survey on household food waste management and answer questions about food waste.
