Brighton Farmers’ Market will be closed next week, April 1, Easter Sunday. We will re-open the following week, April 8.
This Week at the Market – March 25, 2018
Setting up for the Farmers’ Market every week takes a lot of work, but Phil and Paige of Fisher Hill Farm are old pros and fine collaborators. This week they’ll be offering pea and sunflower shoots, micro greens, kohlrabi, turnips, beets, shallots, garlic, onions, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage, eggs, frozen chicken, duck, turkey, and Red Jacket juices.
Shannon Brook Farm will have grass-fed leg of lamb raised on organic pastures for Passover; Walter will also have certified organic, nitrate-free, pasture-raised heritage breed smoked hams for Easter celebrations. Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic spinach, carrots, pea shoots, sunflower shoots, arugula, microgreens, beets, and yellow onions.
Growing Family Farms will have certified organic spinach, kale, arugula, pea shoots mizuna, pasture-raised chicken and duck eggs, Small World ferments and granola, and Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry juice. Stonecrop Farm is featuring sliced deli ham from pasture-raised heritage pigs, plus pasture-raised stewing hens, eggs, and pork cuts including chops, roasts, sausage, tenderloin, hocks (fresh and smoked), bacon, ham steaks, ground pork, and organ meats.
Lakestone Family Farm is bringing naturally colored eggs, half price chicken soup bones, thighs, thigh quarters, and whole chickens. Happy Hooves Organic Farm will have organic 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef cuts, new sausages and cuts from organic pasture-raised pigs fed no soy and no corn, organic eggs from free ranging hens raised without soy or corn, raw wildflower honey, and candles and soaps made with organic ingredients from the farm.
Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic, truly free-range brown eggs (although the Easter bunny might send along some colored ones), plus organically-fed Black Angus steaks, roasts, ribs, ground beef, and more; Callan Farms dry black and cannellini beans; and dried Genovese and lemon basil, spearmint, and thyme. Bolton Farms will have spinach, arugula, spring mix, lettuce bouquets, Boston bibb lettuce, bok choi, mustard greens, micro greens, dandelion greens, escarole, and curly kale.
Lavender Moon is bringing soaps, salves, lotions, and potions, and will offer spring specials on delicious spring and winter tonics; Joe says it’s not too early for Tick Me Off repellent for dogs and their humans. Brian’s Kitchen is bringing chocolate fudge, granola bars, and cookies, both traditional and gluten-free. Flour City Pasta will have a selection of dried pastas.
Tripleberry Farm will have pesticide-free berry jams, traditional and reduced sugar, along with goat milk soaps. Laughing Gull Chocolates will have Easter and Passover goodies including classic truffle flavors (salted caramel, raspberry, coffee, and pure dark), as well as Irish cream, coconut curry, goat cheese, and Aztec, plus new spring flavors carrot cake, coconut, and lime pie; chocolate covered matzah; chocolate covered fruit; chocolate covered ginger; Easter chocolates; and chocolate covered macaroons.
