This Week at the Market

It looks like Sunday is going to feel like spring, so ditch the parka and join us at the Long Season Winter Farmers’ Market.  It may be mid-March, but there will be plenty of good things at the Market this Sunday.  Small World Bakery will have cinnamon raisin bread and kimchi; ask them about their summer ice cream share.  Bloomfield Honey returns this Sunday with raw honey, comb honey, flavored honeys, and beeswax candles.  Tocoti Chocolate is bringing artisan chocolate bars, chocolate toffee matzo, bunnies and marbled peanut butter eggs.

Fisher Hill Farm will have nice big frozen chickens — around 5 pounds, perfect for roasting — plus beets, cabbage, carrots, parsnips, celeriac, rutabaga, potatoes, onions (sweet and cooking), shallots, garlic, frozen corn, and frozen half turkeys.  Nordic Farm is bringing three kinds of beet pickles, made with Fisher Hill Farm’s beets, plus jams and brown eggs.  Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is offering a new 12 ounce glass jar of syrup and will have soft or hard molded maple sugar candy for Easter.  Ask Bobbi about the farm’s Maple Weekend Pancake Breakfasts and Open House.

Newbury Park Pastries is bringing a variety of pot pies (chicken, veggie, chicken & biscuit, and veggie panang), shamrock cookies, and rugelach.  Bolton Farms will have several lettuces including bouquet mix, spring mix, and Boston bibb, plus tatsoi, bok choi, swiss chard, parsley, cilantro, and basil.  Allens Hill Farm will have its famous apple cider molasses, baking mixes, free range eggs, and much more.  You’ll also find pasta, milk, cheese, yogurt, meats, and baked goods.

Also at the Market

Grant Cos and Babek Elahi will perform.  Hard-to-recycle items may be brought to the market this week.

The Long Season Winter Farmers’ Market, a collaboration between Brighton and South Wedge Farmers’ Markets, is held on Sundays, 1 to 4 pm, throughout the winter.  It is held at 220 Idlewood Road, with a second entrance off S. Winton between Westfall and 590.  The market is sponsored by the Town of Brighton.

See you Sunday!
