This Week at the Long Season Winter Farmers’ Market

Long Season Winter Farmers Market

Sundays 1 to 4 pm

Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Road

easy access from S. Winton, between Westfall and 590

We’re more than half way through the Long Season Winter Farmers’ Market, and spring approaches.  Thank you to the many community members who support this market.  By supporting our local farmers, even and especially during the lean winter months, you help them thrive and encourage their year-round productivity for next year and beyond.  By voting with your food dollars, you also participate in the creation of a sustainable, local food system — a hopeful, healthy alternative to an unsustainable industrial food system.  Thank you!  We couldn’t do it without you.

This Week at the Market

Fisher Hill Farm will have nice big fresh chickens, over five pounds and wonderful roasted, plus beets, carrots, parsnips, celeriac, rutabaga, potatoes, onions (sweet and cooking), shallots, garlic, cabbage, frozen corn, and frozen half turkeys.  Noreen of Nordic Farm has made a fresh batch of beet pickles from Fisher Hill Farm’s beets, including Harvard beets, horseradish beet pickles, honey beet pickles (made with honey instead of sugar), and pickled brussels sprouts.  Noreen will also have fresh applesauce.  Flour City Pasta will have beautiful multi-colored and flavored pastas.

Cabbage & Baggage again join us with their beautiful and unique music.  Hard-to-recycle items may be brought to the market.

The Long Season Winter Farmers’ Market, a collaboration between Brighton and South Wedge Farmers’ Markets, is held on Sundays, 1 to 4 pm, throughout the winter.  It is held at 220 Idlewood Road, with a second entrance off S. Winton between Westfall and 590.  The market is sponsored by the Town of Brighton.

See you Sunday!
