Ramps, Mushrooms, and Poutine
![]() This Week at the Market – April 26 Ramps have arrived! Kurt of Clearview Farm is bringing the first ramps of the season (and it’s a very short season), plus red sunchokes, gold and purple top turnips, certified organic, free-range eggs (Kurt recommends scrambled eggs prepared with ramps), dried herbs, and dried beans — cannellini, red Merlot, and black. This week we welcome Smugtown Mushrooms to the market; Olga will offer fresh oyster mushrooms and a few other exotic varieties, mushroom grow kits, and kombucha kits. Happy Hooves Organic Farm will have eggs, ground beef, sausage, new cuts of beef, and pork cuts from the farm’s certified organic, grass-fed, and humanely-raised animals. Lakestone Family Farm is bringing baby kale blend, spinach, lots of eggs, and whole chickens and drumsticks, all certified organic. Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic baby spinach, carrots, beets, green cabbage, garlic powder, sauerkraut, and frozen tomatoes. Growing Family Farms is bringing spinach, Asian greens, arugula, white icicle radishes, kale, pea shoots, wheat grass, potted herbs, mustard greens, fresh shiitakes, dried shiitakes, free-range eggs, Small World ferments and granola, and Singer Naturals tart cherry juice. Fisher Hill Farm is bringing the first hakurei turnips of the season, red Russian kale, curly kale, Asian greens, root veggies, frozen chicken, frozen corn, eggs, and Red Jacket juices. Shannon Brook Farm is featuring the last of the lamb until November, including 2-2.5 lb. legs of lamb cuts — grass-fed, which makes the meat tender, lean, and mild. Bolton Farms will have plenty of fresh greens including Swiss chard, escarole, bok choi, lacinato and curly kale, micro greens, lettuce bouquets, and spring mix. Brian’s Kitchen is featuring newly improved snickerdoodles. Le Petit Poutine joins us this week. Newbury Park Pastries will have chicken, shepherds, veggie, and pulled pork pot pies, plus fontina and sun dried tomato basil quiche. Nordic Farm is bringing Mother’s Day gift boxes, paleo baked goods (gluten free), and fresh jams and jellies. JonJohn’s Bakery is featuring BBQ chicken with fresh vegetables and corn bread, carrot cake, chocolate fudge brownies, apple cobbler, oatmeal cranberry and chocolate chip cookies, chocolate-dipped cookies, and peanut butter balls. Also at the Market Music will be provided by Rick McRae and Rick Crummins. . ColorBrightonGreen.org will collect recycling items; check here for items they are currently able to accept and recycle. Summer Market The summer Brighton Farmers’ Market opens May 24 and runs through October 25.
