Hunger Awareness Day
This Week at the Market — October 4, 2015
Brighton Farmers’ Market takes seriously its mission of helping build a stronger, healthier local food system. A food system is only strong and healthy if everyone in it has enough good food to eat. We know that many people in our area are crushed by poverty, and that means people are hungry, or that they don’t have access to good, healthy food. This week we honor Brighton Food Cupboard and Foodlink, two organizations working to end hunger in our community. Please consider donating generously to the Brighton Food Cupboard this week; they will collect food and funds to help support their work. Foodlink will also join us with information about their Cooking Matters program, which helps families learn to shop and cook delicious food; Foodlink staff will offer a cooking demonstration with samples, and will provide information on volunteering with this program.
