Holiday Treats and Gifts

This Week at the Market

There will be lots of holiday spirit at the Brighton Farmers’ Market this week, and lots of goodies for gifts and treats.  Seaway Trail Honey will have some sweet options — gift packs of assorted mini honey bears and beeswax ornaments, with bows and bags for all purchases. Nordic Farm will have new jams made fresh daily, with gift boxes available. Tripleberry Farm will also have jams, traditional and reduced sugar, with gift packaging; Kim will have goat milk soaps for stocking stuffers. Lavender Moon Herb Gardens is bringing a wide variety of herbal products, beautiful natural wreaths, and soy candles made from recycled glass.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm will have freshly bottled light and medium syrup, freshly made maple cream, and lots of small maple items for stocking stuffers.  Pasta Classics is offering crab and shrimp ravioli. JonJohn’s Bakery will have dinner all ready for you:  glazed ham with cheesy garlic mashed potatoes, seasoned green beans, and fresh rolls, with peanut butter balls, bourbon balls, red velvet cake and oatmeal cranberry cookies and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

We welcome Fruition Seeds from Naples to the market this week; this farm customizes organic seed to thrive in upstate NY, and will offer over 60 varieties of vegetable, flower, and herb seed on Sunday; ask Matthew about what varieties will excel in your garden (great gift for your gardening friends). Happy Hooves Organic Farm will have various cuts of certified organic 100% grass-fed and finished beef; Della will take orders for farm-raised venison and certified organic pork for later winter deliveries. Fisher Hill Farm will have potatoes, carrots, parsnips, rutabaga, celeriac, cabbage, beets, onions, shallots, winter squash, sweet potatoes, garlic, fennel, kale, Sheridan grapes, colorful Asian greens mix, pac choi, frozen chicken (organically fed and conventional), frozen corn, frozen strawberries, and frozen rhubarb; Phil will take orders for a limited supply of fresh turkey for Christmas.

John of Bolton Farms reports that despite the cold weather this week which slows growing, he’ll bring spring mix, plenty of Boston bibb lettuce, chard, kale, pea shoots, basil, parsley, cilantro, and butternut squash. K&S Bischoping will have Jonagold, Idared, and Crispin apples. Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have sweet carrots, green kale, beets, butternut squash, garlic, sweet potatoes, green and purple cabbage, and red leaf lettuce, all certified organic. Shannon Brook Farm is featuring pork butt roasts, delicious cooked in a slow cooker for pulled pork sandwiches. Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic kale, leeks, carrots, rutabaga, garlic, shallots, eshallions, dry beans, dried herbs, and organically-fed, free-range eggs.
