Winter Market Opens



This Week at the Market – November 26, 2017

The winter season of the Brighton Farmers’ Market opens this Sunday, November 26. The Market moves indoors to the Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Rd., Rochester (with a second entrance just off S. Winton between Westfall and 590). The Market is held Sunday afternoons, 1 to 4 pm, throughout the winter. The good local food continues all year!

This week we’ll be celebrating Small Farmer and Small Business Sunday at the Market, honoring and supporting the hard-working women and men who bring us the best local food all year. This Sunday Lakestone Family Farm will have holiday wreaths; frozen chicken breasts, thighs, drumsticks, thigh quarters, wings, soup bones, feet, livers, whole chickens, and spatchcocked whole chickens; eggs; potatoes; kale; parsley; baby bok choi; watermelon, French breakfast, and daikon radishes; napa and Savoy cabbages; beets; peppers; and fennel — all organic.

Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic carrots, spinach, salad mix, arugula, pea shoots, baby kale, napa cabbage, beets, red and green leaf lettuce, sweet potatoes, yellow onions, red and yellow potatoes, green cabbage, and hardneck garlic. Happy Hooves Organic Farm is bringing various cuts of organic 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef and pasture-raised pork fed no soy and no corn.

K&S Bischoping will have apples including Jonagold, Crispin, Snapdragon, Ruby Frost, Gold Delicious, and Fuji, and a selection of heirloom apples as well. Stonecrop Farm is bringing cuts of pasture-raised pork; whole duck; certified organic chickens, feet, and backs; turkey wings; and ginger.

Shannon Brook Farm is featuring organically-smoked, nitrate-free bacon, cottage bacon, jowl bacon, bacon ends, smoked hams, and smoked ham hocks from certified organic, heritage breed, pasture-raised pigs; and certified organic pasture-raised broiler, chickens, Cornish game hens, and pekin ducks. Bristol Mushrooms will have shiitake, lion’s mane, and king oyster mushrooms, fresh-picked and certified organic.

Clearview Farm will have certified organic green acorn, carnival, delicata, and kabocha squash; golden turnips; dried Italian oregano and dried lemon basil; free-range eggs; and an assortment of 100% grass-fed Angus beef cuts. R&M Bischoping is bringing a selection of honey soaps, beeswax lip balms, and lotion bars, perfect for gifting, and spring and summer honey.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is bringing bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple cotton candy; maple coated almonds and cashews; traditional, cinnamon, and raspberry maple cream spread; maple mustard; syrup in fancy holiday glass; pure NYS maple syrup in golden, amber, dark, and very dark; maple cream spread; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body care products — maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm.

Lavender Moon is bringing all natural holiday wreaths in limited quantities and will take orders. Tripleberry Farm is bringing a full selection of pesticide free, traditional and reduced sugar berry jams; peach jam; holiday candies; and lots of goat milk soaps for stocking stuffers. Flour City Pasta will have a selection of pasta gift boxes.
