This Week at the Market – February 12, 2017
You’ll find sweets for your sweetie this week at Brighton Farmers’ Market, and all the ingredients for a delicious, local Valentine’s Day meal. Laughing Gull Chocolates will have lots of truffles — raspberry, chocolate, pure dark, salted caramel, lemon ginger, and pomegranate honey, plus vegan truffles. Lavender Moon is bringing herbal treats including heart-shaped soaps, herbal culinary blends, flavored hot cocoas, and healing lotions and salves.
Tripleberry Farm will have freshly made jams including red plum, blueberry brownies and tripleberry blondies, moisturizing goat milk soaps, and frozen pesticide-free blueberries, perfect for smoothies and muffins. Brian’s Kitchen is bringing chocolate fudge and many varieties of cookies.
Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is bringing pure NYS maple syrup (golden, amber, dark, and very dark), maple cream spread, granulated maple sugar, maple garlic rub, maple coffee, maple tea, wheat free oatmeal maple dog treats, soft and hard maple sugar shaped candy, and body care products — maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm.
Fellenz Family Farm will have lettuce mix, spinach, kale, spicy salad mix, rutabaga, and Wild Thistle herbal products. Growing Family Farm is bringing pasture raised rabbit, broilers, stew hens, certified organic duck eggs, winter squash, potatoes, garlic, Small World ferments and granola, and Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry juice.
Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic carrots, green kale, sweet potatoes, spinach, onions, beets, red and fingerling potatoes, napa cabbage, leeks, garlic, garlic powder, green cabbage, and butternut squash. Stonecrop Farm is bringing cuts of organically raised pastured heritage pork and Pekin ducks, as well as certified organic eggs and whole chickens.
Shannon Brook Farm is featuring lamb riblets, aka Denver ribs, that are grass-fed on certified organic pasture, and recommends this simple recipe. Lakestone Family Farm will have fresh eggs, garlic, whole and half frozen chickens as well as thighs, drumsticks, thigh quarters, feet, necks, soup bones, and hearts.
Smugtown Mushrooms is bringing fresh shiitake and oyster mushrooms and oyster grow kits. Fisher Hill Farm will have greens from the high tunnel, winter squash, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions, sweet potatoes, garlic, beets, fennel, kohlrabi, local apples, Red Jacket juices, eggs, frozen ducks, and a sale on frozen chickens — buy two, get one free.
