Happy Holidays to all from the Brighton Farmers’ Market!  Stop by the market this Sunday for last-minute gifts and treats for the holiday table.  Honeyhill Farm will have certified organic chickens, both large and small, for a delicious feast, along with potatoes, carrots, sweet onions, and shallots. Clearview Farm, also certified organic, will have chestnuts, winter squash, carrots, turnips, radishes, kale, leeks, shallots, eschallions, scallions, dry beans fresh rosemary, dried herbs, and organically-fed, free-range eggs. Bolton Farms is bringing lettuce bouquets, spring mix, Boston bibb lettuce, escarole, arugula, parsley, cilantro, basil, tatsoi, pea shoots, and micro greens.

Fisher Hill Farm will have fresh turkey, spring mix, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, rutabaga, celeriac, cabbage, beets, onions, shallots, winter squash, sweet potatoes, garlic, fennel, kale, Sheridan grapes, colorful Asian greens mix, pac choi, frozen chicken (organically fed and conventional), frozen corn, frozen strawberries, and frozen rhubarb. K&S Bischoping will have Jonagold, Crispin, and Cortland apples. Shannon Brook Farm is featuring pasture-raised, organically-fed Long Island Duck and Cornish Game hens. Fellenz Family Farm is bringing apples, including Gold Rush, celeriac, kohlrabi, rutabaga, potatoes (Red Maria, Keuka Gold, and French fingerling), scallions, shallots, red onions, garlic, eggs, Asian stir-fry medleys (including komatsuna, tat soi, and Hakurei turnip), and lettuce baskets, all certified organic.

Happy Hooves Organic Farm is bringing certified organic grass-fed and finished beef, including roasts, steaks, and soup bones; Della is still taking orders for certified organic pasture-raised pork and farm-raised venison for January and February delivery. Noreen of Nordic Farm has been making jam every day and will have lots to choose from for gifts, plus brown eggs, granola, and pickles. Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm will have all sizes of maple products to fit under a tree or in a stocking.

JonJohn’s Bakery will have roast pork shoulder with baked macaroni and cheese, fresh butter rolls, and market vegetable, with Grandma’s Breakfast cakes, Beyond Chocolate cakes, and bourbon balls for dessert. Seaway Trail Honey is offering local honey in novelty gift jars, mini bear stocking stuffers, and beeswax ornaments. Allens Hill Farm is bringing meat rabbits, Dukkah samplers, and apple cider molasses granola. Flour City Pasta will have lots of gift boxes ready to customize with your favorite pasta flavors. Lavender Moon Herb Gardens will have lots of herbal products from soap to catnip, plus a few allnatural wreaths for last-minute decorating. Tocoti Chocolate will have micro-batch bean-to-bar chocolate in bars and bags, and a limited amount of chocolate bourbon bars.

Green Horns, a recorder quartet, will provide musical holiday cheer. ColorBrightonGreen.org will collect hard-to-recycle items. Brighton Food Cupboard will accept donations of food and cash to help support its mission of providing food to the needy in our community. The need is especially great during the holiday season; a list of items needed can be found here.

Brighton Winter Farmers’ Market is held Sundays, 1 to 4 pm, through April 13, 2014.  It’s located in Brighton’s Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Road, Rochester. There is a second entrance to the building, easily accessible, from S. Winton, between Westfall and 590 (just south of Westfall).
