IMPORTANT LOCATION UPDATE

Brighton Farmers’ Market returns to Brighton High School Sunday, September 8.  The market will remain at the High School (1150 Winton Road S.) for the rest of the season.

This week Honeyhill Farm will have certified organic cherry and heirloom slicing tomatoes; red, orange, yellow, and purple sweet peppers; leeks; sweet onions; shallots; garlic; sweet baby carrots; red, white, and golden beets; russet, red, white, and purple potatoes; and pasture-raised chicken.  K&S Bischoping is bringing blackberries, SunGlo nectarines, Starking Delicious pears, Canadian Harmony peaches, Stanley plums, Paula Red and Ginger Gold apples, along with heirloom varieties Wealthy, Chenango Strawberry, Summer Rambo, and Gravenstein. Fisher Hill Farm is bringing some of the sweetest sweet corn of the year, red seedless watermelons, yellow and red seeded watermelons, beets, kale, eggplant, peppers, cantaloupes, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, lettuce, radish, yellow beans, potatoes, carrots, sweet onions, garlic, and chicken.

R&M Bischoping will have green beans, tomatillos, fresh-cut basil, Sunpeach cherry tomatoes, slicing tomatoes, baby zucchini, peppers (bell, Hungarian wax, jalapeno, and serrano), fresh-cut bouquets, and cucumbers. Organic Matters is bringing cantaloupe, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, delicata winter squash, summer squash, beans, and eggs. Lagoner Farms will have Ginger Gold apples for the lunchbox or to give the teacher, lots of peaches and tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, super-sweet nectarines, and Bartlett pears. Shady Lane Farm is bringing Beer Friend edamame, red and gold potatoes, sweet onions, cukes, cherry/grape and beefsteak tomatoes, red mini-cabbages, cantaloupe, peaches, and fresh-cut flowers.

Chicory Blue Gardens is bringing lots of zinnias, new purple verbena, dark red tall amaranthus, ruby silk grass, and a variety of sunflowers. Growing Family Farm will have some of the season’s best heirloom tomatoes, a rainbow of sweet bell peppers, lemon cucumbers, mini melons, garlic, dried shiitakes, Swiss chard, and free-range eggs. Clearview Farm will have ground cherries, pickling and slicing cukes, dill, cilantro, zucchini and patty pan summer squash, cantaloupe, tomatoes (cherry, beefsteak, heirloom), peppers, beets, arugula, shallots. scallions, garlic, eggs, dry beans, and buckwheat. Bolton Farms will have lettuce bouquets, bibb lettuce, spring mix, cauliflower, corn, squash, eggplant, watercress, tatsoi, bok choi, microgreens, and pea shoots.

Tripleberry Farm is bringing giant pesticide-free blackberries, no-spray berry jams, and goat milk soaps. Seaway Trail Honey reports that the native goldenrod plants have started to bloom; this week’s late summer honey harvest yielded a dark, flavorful honey, and it’s certified kosher for Rosh Hashanah. Allens Hill Farm is bringing aquaponically grown greens, Swiss chard,and basil. Small World Food will have sourdough rye, oatmeal bread, and dilly beans. JonJohn’s Bakery will have fresh vegetable salad and corn bread with vegetables from Fisher Hill and Shady Lane, plus German chocolate cake and sugar cookies in some new varieties.

Nordic Farm Jams‘ jam of the week is black raspberry, with blackberry jam bars as well as peach and apricot. Biscotti for Everybotti will have three kinds of espresso chocolate chip biscotti, all made with Joe Bean organic fair trade coffee. Wohlschegel’s Naples Maple Farm will have maple garlic pepper rub, hot maple mustard, and maple cream spread, all great on grilled seafood, chicken, or pork. Flour City Pasta is bringing some nice fall flavors, including autumn harvest orzo (apple cinnamon, pumpkin, parsley sage, and beet orzo blend), and pumpkin pappardelle. Eat Me Ice Cream will have sweet corn and blackberry ice cream sandwiches on peanut butter cookies, sweet corn and blackberry ice cream popsicles, and some ice cream pints. Lettuce B. Frank will be offering a variety of breakfast sandwiches — beef sliders with egg and cheese, carrot sliders with egg and cheese, and pork sausage egg and cheese.

The Brighton Farmers’ Market is held Sundays from 9 am to 1 pm.  This week the market will be held in the Temple B’rith Kodesh parking lot, 2131 Elmwood Avenue (between Twelve Corners and S. Clinton). Next Sunday, September 8, the market will return to Brighton High School at 1150 Winton Road S., Rochester.
