Welcome, Winter — we’ve been expecting you. We’ll be spending time together this year, because the Long Season Winter Market will be open for the entire winter. Thanks to the customers, farmers, and producers who work together to make wonderful local products available year-round. The market will remain in the same location, Brighton’s Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Rd. (with easy access from S. Winton, between Westfall and 590), Sundays 1 to 4 pm.
This Week at the Market
There will be lots of last-minute holiday treats and gifts at the market. Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have lettuce, carrots, beets, turnips, green kale, leeks, garlic, green cabbage, butternut squash, and baby rainbow chard. Fisher HIll Farm is bringing a nice selection of winter root vegetables, potatoes, winter squash, onions, cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, frozen corn and strawberries, frozen half turkeys, and frozen whole and half chickens. Nordic Farms is offering holiday gift packages of popular jam varieties, plus eggs, granola, and pickles. Bloomfield Honey will have orange, lavender, lime, or cinnamon flavored honeys, comb honey, gift bags, and honey dippers.
K&S Bischoping will have delicious, crisp apples, and Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is bringing maple cotton fluff. Bolton Farms will have bibb lettuce, basil, parsley, cilantro, bok choi, tatsoi, pea shoots, and microgreens. Flour City Pasta is offering gift boxes of pasta and fresh lasagna sheets. Lakestone Family Farm is bringing certified organic beet greens, mixed braising greens, baby napa cabbage, baby red lettuce, eggs, and the last of Denis’ chickens. Newberry Park Pastries will have mac & cheese pot pie, chicken pot pie, veggie pot pie, and Christmas cookies. Small World Bakery is bringing cinnamon raisin bread and Swedish limpa.
Also at the Market
The Brighton Food Cupboard will accept donations of food and cash, and will accept clean, gently-used clothing for the new Brighton Your Wardrobe project; donations are especially needed during this holiday season. You may also bring hard-to-recycle items to the market.
The Long Season Winter Farmers’ Market, a collaboration of the Brighton and South Wedge Farmers’ Markets, is held Sundays 1 to 4 pm in Brighton’s Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Road (with easy access from S. Winton, between Westfall and 590). The market is sponsored by the Town of Brighton.
