This Week at the Market – December 3, 2017

Brighton Winter Farmers’ Market is open for business, tables piled high with delicious all-local foods to get you through the holiday season. And we’re back indoors, Sunday afternoons 1-4 at the Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Rd. Come see what year-round local looks like!

This week Fellenz Family Farm is bringing Brussels sprouts, purple top turnips, watermelon and daikon radishes, celeriac, kohlrabi, garlic, onions, leeks, red and green cabbage, arugula, and Wild Thistle Herbal products. Growing Family Farms will have certified organic spinach, kale, rainbow chard, winter mesclun, pea shoots, Magic Molly and Red Maria potatoes, sweet cured onions, winter squash, fresh turmeric and ginger, pasture-raised chicken and duck eggs, Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry and Concord grape juice, and Small World ferments and granola.

Shannon Brook Farm suggests it’s time to stock up on certified organic, nitrate free holiday hams from pasture-raised, heritage breed pigs and lamb chops (shoulder, rib, loin, and leg) from grass-fed lambs for holiday parties and feasts. K&S Bischoping will have a nice selection of apples including Snapdragon, Ruby Frost, Gold Delicious, Jonagold, Crispin, Cameo, and Fuji, and heirlooms including Golden Russet and Newtown Pippin.

Happy Hooves Organic Farm is bringing 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, organic pasture raised pork fed no soy and no corn, and organic eggs from free-ranging hens fed no corn or soy. Bolton Farms will have Boston bibb lettuce, lettuce bouquets, parsley, cilantro, spring mix, bok choi, tatsoi, microgreens, butternut and grey kabocha squash, arugula, and sorrel.

Smugtown Mushrooms
will have fresh blue oyster, shiitake, and king trumpet mushrooms; dried reishi tea; medicinal mushroom tinctures; and mushroom grow kits. Stonecrop Farm is bringing certified organic frozen chickens, chicken wings, pasture-raised whole ducks, and cuts of heritage pork including chops, roasts, sausage, and smoked bacon.

Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce is bringing certified organic carrots spinach, salad mix, pea shoots, baby kale, napa cabbage, beets, sweet potatoes, yellow onions, red and yellow potatoes, green cabbage, and hardneck garlic. Bristol Mushrooms will have shiitake, lion’s mane, and king oyster mushrooms, certified organic and fresh picked.

Newbury Park Pastries will have chicken, panang, shepherds, veggie, and snow crab mac & cheese pot pies plus tarts and cut out cookies. R&M Bischoping will have honey, honey soaps, beeswax lotion bars, and lip balms; customers can make their own gift sets for holiday giving.

Lavender Moon is bringing wreaths, soaps, salves, and winter tonic. JonJohn’s Bakery will have chocolate hoho cake, carrot cake, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter balls, apple cobbler, bourbon balls, and sugar cookies.

Flour City Bread is bringing loaves of artisanal breads and a variety of pastries. Farmhouse Table will have fresh salads featuring Smugtown mushrooms, fresh apple bread, and holiday candies.

Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic green acorn, carnival, butternut, and delicata squash; golden turnips; dried Italian oregano and dried lemon basil; golden turnips; and an assortment of organically-fed 100% grass-grown Angus beef cuts. Tripleberry Farm is bringing lots of pesticide-free jams, holiday candies, and goat milk soaps.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm will have bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple cotton candy; maple coated almonds and cashews; traditional, cinnamon, and raspberry maple cream spread; maple mustard; pure NYS maple syrup in flavors golden, amber, dark, and very dark; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body care products — maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm.
