Lakestone Family Farm

Michelle Lepel

Shortsville, NY

Crops Grown:

mixed vegetables; whole chickens, chicken parts, chicken eggs

Growing Practices:

“Our farm is on land in Farmington, NY that has been farmed since the 1850s but has been fallow for some years now.  We are currently preparing our beds and planting without the use of chemical fertilizers. Our chickens will be raised on pasture in moveable pens to follow the Joel Salatin model.  They will be processed and frozen by us on the farm.  Our low-impact pest management plans include electrical fencing, bird netting, and OMRI-listed non-synthetic insecticides such as Neem Oil.  Our goal is to be good stewards of the earth and intervene only when necessary.  Our goal is to leave our land in better condition than we found it.”
