Green, Green at the Market


This Week at the Market – March 17, 2019

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! You won’t find green beer at Brighton Farmers’ Market this Sunday, but there will be plenty of green, including cabbage — of course you’ll need cabbage! — and lots of fresh greens coming from the high tunnels and greenhouses. Fisher Hill Farm will have that cabbage,plusmicro greens, pea shoots, root veggies, cabbage, sweet potatoes, onions, shallots, eggs, Red Jacket juices, and frozen hens, turkey, duck, and stewing hens. Smugtown Mushrooms will have fresh homegrown oyster, shiitake, and king trumpet mushrooms, oyster and lion’s mane mushroom grow kits, mushroom extracts, and dried reishi mushrooms.

Andy’s Specialty Produce is bringing certified organic spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, yellow onions, red beets, red and yellow potatoes, and pea and sunflower shoots. Bolton Farms will have butterhead bibb lettuce, spring mix, lettuce bouquets, arugula, tatsoi, watercress, red Russian kale, pea shoots, micro greens, mustard greens, spicy mix, and butternut and kabocha squash. 

Lakestone Family Farm will have frozen whole chickens, chicken pieces, stewing hens, and soup bones, plus four varieties of potatoes and beets. Stonecrop Farm is bringing cuts of fresh pasture-raised pork including chops, shoulder roasts, steaks, spare ribs, stew meat, sausage, ground pork, smoked bacon, ham steaks, deli ham, hocks, trotters, rendered lard, and organ meats. 

Bristol Mushrooms will have fresh-picked certified organic lion’s mane mushrooms and Brain Booster Lion’s Mane coffee and powder. Shannon Brook Farm is bringing whole, free-range, certified organic pekin ducks and duck necks and feet for making broth; whole and half free-range, certified organic broiler chickens and necks for making broth; free-range certified organic stew hens; certified organic, pasture-raised, heritage breed pork cuts — butt roasts, tenderloins, spare ribs, smoked hocks, six kinds of sausage, no-nitrate bacons (regular, cottage, Canadian, jowl, ends); smoked and fresh hams; boneless and bone-in chops, soup bones, and minute steaks; grass-fed lamb cuts — leg and shoulder roasts, four kinds of chops, ground, and two types of sausages; and free-range, certified organic chicken eggs.

Wohlschlegels Naples Maple Farm is bringing maple fudge, bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple BBQ sauce; maple cotton candy; maple coated almonds, cashews, and pecans; traditional, cinnamon, and raspberry maple cream spread; maple mustard; pure NYS maple syrup in golden, amber, dark, and very dark; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body care products — maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm.

Newbury Park Pastries will have chicken, veggie, panang, shepherds, and pulled pork pot pies along with rugelach and cut-out cookies. Tripleberry Farm will have lots of traditional and reduced sugar peach, plum, and grape jams, pesticide-free berry jams, and moisturizing goat milk soaps.

East Hill Creamery is offering a special on multiple purchases of cheese. Brian’s Kitchen will have cookies, both traditional and gluten-free/vegan, almond coconut granola bars, pumpkin seed/chia seed granola bars, almond-peanut-chia seed granola bars, and chocolate fudge.  

Impact Earth offers its organics drop-off service: drop off outside, pick up inside; also offered are beeswax wraps, Eco-Pul bags, reusable utensils with case, and metal straws.
