Production Practices
“Honeybee and honey agricultural sustainability happens on many levels. We work hard to maintain our 50 honey bee colonies as naturally as possible, understanding that honey bee health comes first. If a colony is not healthy, we do not let it collect honey for us. We grow some of our own fruit on the farm for jam, giving our bees lots of flowers to pollinate. We soil build with worm castings and worm tea; no fungicides or insecticides are used. Fruit that we do not grow we source from local farms. For beeswax candles — we harvest all the wax cappings that come off during the honey harvest, clean it and use all of it to make candles and other beeswax products.”
