Wellness Day at the Market

This Week at the Market – February 11, 2018

This Sunday is Wellness Day at Brighton Farmers’ Market! We will be joined by Brighton Central School District staff, area wellness professionals, and Brighton High School students to learn about the wellness initiatives that are happening in our schools and within our community. Some of the groups joining us will be the BHS Wellness Club, BHS Counseling Staff, BCSD Food Service, Friends of Rachel, CHIP, a committee exploring changing school start times, and PTSA with info on Fun Food Fridays. Stop by the small gym at Brookside, in the hall just around the corner from the Market.

This week Fisher Hill Farm is bringing pea and sunflower shoots, microgreens, Asian greens from the high tunnel, winter squash, sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, onions, turnips, celeriac, rutabaga, cabbage, frozen chicken, frozen stewing hens, duck, turkey (sale on conventionally-raised), and eggs. Bolton Farms will have Boston bibb lettuce, spring mix, lettuce bouquets, arugula, bok choi, microgreens, mustard greens, pea shoots, and kale.

Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic truly free-range organic eggs, Bittner Singer Enterprise and Gold Rush apples, Callan Farms black and cannellini dry beans, and organically-fed, grass-grown Angus beef and dried herbs. Happy Hooves Organic Farm is bringing organic 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef cuts, assorted sausages and cuts from organic pasture-raised pigs fed no soy and no corn, organic eggs from free-ranging hens raised without soy or corn, raw wildflower honey, and candles and Valentine soap made with organic ingredients from the farm.

Bristol Mushrooms will have certified organic lion’s mane mushrooms. Stonecrop Farm is bringing pasture-raised stewing hens, a full selection of pasture-raised pork cuts, and certified organic eggs.

Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic carrots, pea shoots, sunflower shoots, beets, sweet potatoes, yellow onions, and hardneck garlic. Shannon Brook Farm is featuring organic, pasture-raised heritage breed pork that is organically processed: bacon, hams, smoked hocks, chops, butt roasts, spare ribs, sausage, ground and soup stock bones; certified organic free-range broiler chickens, wholes and halves; whole pekin ducks; and grass-fed lamb: chops, ground, shanks, Denver ribs, rack, whole legs, shoulder roasts, organ meats, and soup stock bones.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is bringing heart-shaped maple candy for your Valentine; bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple cotton candy; maple coated almonds, cashews, and pecans; traditional, cinnamon and raspberry maple cream spread; maple mustard; pure NYS maple syrup in golden, amber, dark, and very dark; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat-free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body care products — maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm. Tripleberry Farm is bringing pesticide-free traditional and reduced sugar berry  jams, fresh peach jam, and goat milk soaps.

Lavender Moon will have sanitizing all-natural flu fighters and lots of Valentine goodies. JonJohn’s Bakery is bringing roasted turkey and vegetable, mom’s mac & cheese, pecan praline chocolate cake, peanut butter balls, chocolate dipped bourbon balls, frosted sugar cookies, oatmeal craisin and chocolate chip cookies, and lemon blueberry cake.

Newbury Park Pastries will have chicken, shepherds, panang, veggie, and short rib pot pies. Farmhouse Table will have a selection of fresh salads, baked goods, and sweets.
