Plenty of Green at the Market

This Week at the Market – March 11, 2018

There may not be much green outside, but we’ll have plenty of green inside at the Brighton Farmers’ Market this Sunday, including these sweet shamrock cookies for St. Patrick’s Day from Newbury Park Pastries; Kate will also offer chicken; shepherds; veggie; panang; BBQ beef brisket; and chicken, leek, and tarragon pot pies. Bolton Farms is bringing lots of green — butterhead bibb lettuce, spring mix, lettuce bouquets, spinach, arugula, bok choi, fresh turnips with greens, dandelion greens, micro greens, cilantro, kale, winter squash, Swiss chard, and spicy mix.

Happy Hooves Organic Farm is bringing organic 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef cuts, assorted sausages and cuts from organic pasture-raised pigs fed no soy and no corn, organic eggs from free-ranging hens raised without soy or corn, raw wildflower honey, and candles and soaps made with organic ingredients from the farm. Growing Family Farms will have organic baby kale, rainbow chard, spinach, arugula, garlic, onions, pasture-raised chicken and duck eggs, Small World ferments and granola, and Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry juice.

Fisher Hill Farm is bringing fresh greens from the high tunnel, pea and sunflower shoots, microgreens, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, onions, shallots, garlic, kohlrabi, turnips, beets, eggs, and frozen chicken, duck and turkey. Stonecrop Farm will have pasture-raised pork cuts including Canadian bacon, smoked ham roasts, shoulder roasts, chops, and more, plus pasture raised stewing hens and certified organic eggs.

Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic spinach, carrots, pea shoots, sunflower shoots, beets, and yellow onions. Shannon Brook Farm will have grass-fed leg of lamb raised on organic pastures for Passover; Walter will also have certified organic, nitrate-free, pasture-raised heritage breed smoked hams for Easter celebrations.

Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic dried Italian oregano, lemon basil, and spearmint; an assortment of organically-fed 100% grass-grown Angus beef cuts; free-range organic eggs; and Callan Farms organic dry black and cannellini beans. Laughing Gull Chocolates will have bark; chocolate covered mango, bananas, and ginger; salted caramel chocolate sauce; hot chocolate; and truffles, including new flavors Irish Cream (for St. Patrick’s Day), coconut curry, and goat cheese, plus salted caramel, raspberry, coffee, pure dark, lemon ginger, Aztec, and pomegranate honey.

Lavender Moon is bringing soaps, salves, lotions, potions, and a variety of culinary blends. Flour City Pasta will have new flavors including kale fettuccine and the extremely hot  Seven Pepper ramen noodles, both made with locally sourced ingredients. Tripleberry Farm is bringing pesticide-free traditional and reduced sugar berry jams, fresh peach jam, and goat milk soaps.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm will have bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple BBQ sauce; maple coated almonds, cashews, and pecans; traditional, cinnamon, and raspberry maple cream spread; maple mustard; pure NYS maple syrup in flavors golden, amber, dark, and very dark; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat-free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body care products; maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm.
