Hello Spring

This Week at the Market – March 26, 2017

The official beginning of spring often looks like a wintry joke around here, but our local farms are getting into the spirit of spring in a big green way. Arugula grows enthusiastically now on Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce farm; Andy is bringing bags full with him to Market Sunday, along with certified organic carrots, sweet potatoes, red beets, green cabbage, daikon radishes, garlic, and garlic powder.

Lakestone Family Farm is offering a special on whole chickens, buy one get one half price; Denis will also have eggs, all certified organic. Bolton Farms is bringing butterhead bibb lettuce, lettuce bouquets, spring mix, mustard greens, spinach, arugula, kale, bok choi, and watercress.

Shannon Brook Farm is offering a spring sale on pasture-raised, organically-fed fresh hams, ugly pork chops, grass-fed leg of lamb, and Denver ribs. Clearview Farm will have certified organic sunchokes, buckwheat, dried herbs, truly free-range eggs, frozen stewing hens and roosters, and 100% organically and grass-grown Black Angus steaks, roasts, ground beef and variety meats plus a full tenderloin.

Stonecrop Farm is bringing certified organic eggs, pasture raised duck, and cuts of pork. Bristol Mushrooms will have fresh king oyster and lion’s mane mushrooms, fresh picked and certified organic.

Shannon Brook Farm
is offering a spring sale on several items — pasture-raised organically-fed fresh hams, ugly pork chops, grass-fed leg of lamb, and Denver ribs. Farmhouse Table will have an assortment of fresh salads including early spring quinoa salad, soup by the quart, snacks, and fresh baked treats.

Brian’s Kitchen
will have cookies and chocolate fudge. Tripleberry Farm is bringing pesticide-free jams and moisturizing goat milk soaps.

Lavender Moon is offering spring specials such as lilac soap, lotion, and perfume, plus moisturizing lotions and salves and tasty herb blends. Laughing Gull Chocolates will have seasonal flavors including maple from Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm; vegan truffles and a variety of chocolate barks will be available.
