Growing in Winter for the Market

This Week at the Market – January 22, 2017

Good food grows all winter on our farms, including Fellenz Family Farm, thanks to plastic-covered high tunnels that keep cold out and growing things in. Join us at Brighton Farmers’ Market this Sunday to see what our local farmers area growing in January in upstate New York.

Shannon Brook Farm is featuring pasture-raised fresh hams, pork shoulder roasts, and pork chops.

Clearview Farm will have red Russian and Vates curly kale and a free recipe with any kale purchase, rutabaga, Blush onions, leeks, buckwheat, dry black turtle beans, truly free-range eggs, frozen stewing hens, and 100% organically and grass-grown Black Angus steaks, roasts, ground beef, and variety meats. Happy Hooves Organic Farm is bringing 100% grass fed and grass finished beef in an assortment of roasts and stew, ground beef, and steaks; chicken giblets and some cuts of turkey raised on pasture and fed no soy and no corn (all meats are certified organic); raw honey; and muffins.

Fisher Hill Farm will have greens from the high tunnel, winter squash, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions, sweet potatoes, garlic, beets, fennel, kohlrabi, local apples, Red Jacket juices, eggs, frozen ducks, and a sale on frozen chickens — buy two, get one free.
