This Sunday is the final week of the summer season of the Brighton Farmers’ Market. Thanks to all our farmers, producers, and customers for another great season. Next Sunday is the opening day of our Winter Market — many of your favorite vendors will offer their delicious products all winter long at the Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Rd., Rochester (with a second entrance just off S. Winton between Westfall and 590). The Winter Market switches to afternoon, 1-4 pm. Please join us, and help support our wonderful farmers and producers all year.

This Week at the Market – November 19, 2017

We’re very thankful for the harvest this year and every year, and will celebrate on Thanksgiving with a feast made from the harvest of our Market’s farms. Start with the turkey of course — Happy Hooves Organic Farm will have some turkeys, along with various cuts of organic 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef and cuts of organic pasture-raised pork. Fisher Hill Farm will also have turkeys, lots of veggies, eggs, and juice.

Growing Family Farms will have certified organic Magic Molly potatoes, butternut and acorn squash, sweet cured red and white onions, sweet peppers, pea shoots, baby chard, spinach, tender baby kale, escarole, ginger and turmeric, pasture-raised chicken and duck eggs, and Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry and Concord grape juices. K&S Bischoping will have a large selection of apples, with varieties Ruby Frost and Cameo added to the mix this week.

Stonecrop Farm is bringing a full selection of cuts of pasture-raised heritage pork including bacon, roasts, chops, and sausage, as well as whole duck and certified organic chicken. Buzz’s Garden will have fennel, Brussels sprouts, microgreens, pea shoots, thyme, sage, garlic, hakurei turnips, watermelon radishes, daikon radishes, and kohlrabi.

Shannon Brook Farm is featuring organically-smoked, nitrate-free bacon, smoked hams, and ham hocks from certified organic, heritage breed pasture-raised pigs, plus certified organic, pasture-raised broiler chickens, Cornish game hens, and pekin ducks. Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic carrots, spinach, salad mix, arugula, pea shoots, baby kale, napa cabbage, beets, red and green leaf lettuce, sweet potatoes, yellow onions, red and yellow potatoes, green cabbage, and hardneck garlic.

Fellenz Family Farm
is bringing Brussels sprouts, kohlrabai, sweet turnips, purple top turnips, watermelon and daikon radishes, leeks, onions, and green and red cabbage. Lighthouse Gardens is bringing certified organic shishito, habanero, yellow bell, and super sweet Italian frying peppers; delicious green and red celery; carrots; sweet Korean daikon radishes; hakurei turhips; Tendersweet and napa cabbage; garlic; rainbow Swiss chard; baby kale; lettuce bouquets; succulent planters; and a large selection of perennial herbs.

Lakestone Family Farm is bringing  7-pound chickens plus chicken breasts, wings, thighs, drumsticks, thigh quarters, feet, soup bones, and spatchcock chickens; eggs; red, green, and Tuscan kale; daikon, watermelon, and French breakfast radishes; red, white, and fingerling potatoes; fennel; garlic; napa and savoy cabbage; parsley; baby pac choi; beets; and bushes of hot and sweet peppers. Bolton Farms will have lettuce bouquets, bibb lettuce, spring mix, arugula, watercress, parsley, cilantro, Asian greens, and winter squash.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is bringing bourbon barrel aged maple syrup; maple cotton candy; maple coated almonds, cashews, and pecans; traditional, cinnamon, and raspberry maple cream spread; maple mustard; pure NYS maple syrup in golden, amber, dark, and very dark; granulated maple sugar; maple garlic rub; maple coffee and tea; wheat-free oatmeal maple dog treats; soft and hard sugar shapes; and body care products–maple vanilla soap, lotion, and lip balm. Newbury Park Pastries will have turkey dinner, chicken, veggie, and shepherds pot pies.

Seaway Trail Honey is bringing turkey-shaped beeswax candles plus raw, fresh spring to fall pure wildflower varieties of award-winning honey, luscious honeycomb, sampler packs, and candles, all from the bees by the shore of Lake Ontario and certified Kosher, and honey sweetmeats — flavorful local black walnuts in honey and almonds and pistachios in honey.  Pasta Classics will have ravioli flavors including feta & spinach, prosciutto & provolone, and three cheese, plus cheese gnocchi and a wide variety of baked stuffed breads.

Le Petit Poutine is offering sausage gravy poutine, Thanksgiving poutine, and will have vegan gravy by the quart for Thanksgiving. JonJohn’s Bakery is bringing triple decker beyond chocolate ho-ho cake with a rich ganache, pumpkin cake with chocolate chips, fresh muffins (mixed berry & brownie and chocolate chip), classic carrot cake, lemon blueberry cake, grandma’s breakfast cake, chocolate chip and oatmeal cranberry cookies, chocolate peanut butter balls, and dark chocolate bourbon balls.
